Our Mission

BRE has developed a diverse collection of core signal processing capabilities over the years through its numerous research and development contracts with the U.S. Government. To date, the company has lacked the resources and experience to successfully productize these capabilities. We view the company’s capabilities as potential products that, with the support of Razor’s Edge as part of the BlackSignal platform,  represent significant growth opportunities. What follows is a summary of several of BRE’s capabilities that we believe will serve as a strong foundation for the BlackSignal platform:

• Signal Detection and Identification – BRE has paired GPUs and COTS SDR technology to supercharge the company’s extensive digital signal and waveform expertise with proprietary BRE signal processing algorithms. This capability allows BRE to detect a wide range of radio frequencies and signals of interest and to maintain these capabilities as peer adversaries adapt to new signal processing techniques.

• Geolocation and Tracking – BRE has developed several advanced geolocation and tracking algorithms capable of automating the discovery of signals anywhere in the world in an automated fashion. BRE is able to do this in a cost-efficient, scalable manner. BRE has several internal capabilities in this area. These offerings and other projects under development are highly relevant to the C5ISR solutions the DoD is looking for as part of its C3 Modernization Strategy and are growth areas for the BlackSignal platform.

• Signal Discovery – Leveraging BRE’s ML expertise, BRE has developed software that allows it to detect highly complex and secure communications. By implementing multi-domain deep learning concurrent with signal detection and recognition, the firm is able to outperform traditional industry standard methods used to detect, recognize, and analyze signals.

• Space-Based Capabilities – The Government is increasingly looking for ways to reduce the costs of its space-based C5ISR assets by leveraging commercial technologies. BRE’s proprietary automated signal detection algorithms leveraging COTS SDRs have been proven effective on commercial satellites. We expect these capabilities to be a growth driver for BlackSignal as both government and commercial customers look for best-in-class signal processing at a competitive price point.
